Admitted students, let’s get started
Congratulations on your admission to the UNH Graduate School. Here's everything you need to do between now and your first day of class.
From admitted to enrolled

Accept your offer of admission
Visit the application portal and log in. Click "View Your Decision," then the green "Reply to Offer" button in the lower right.
Having trouble responding online? Email your decision to grad.school@unh.edu with your name, program, term, and UNH Student ID.

Claim and activate your UNH accounts
You'll receive an email titled "Welcome to the Wildcat Family!" with your USNH username. Follow the instructions in that email to claim your account at myaccount.microsoft.com. Didn't get the email? Contact grad.school@unh.edu.

Log into your UNH Wildcat email
Visit the Accessing Student Email page to set up your UNH email address. Check it regularly — this is how the university will reach you.

Connect with your academic department
Your department will walk you through advising and orientation. Your advisor's name is listed on your offer of admission. No contact info? Check your department's webpage or email grad.school@unh.edu.

Registration, your Student ID card, parking, health insurance, and more all live on your campus's resources page. Pick yours:

International students — complete your visa steps
If you require an F-1 visa, the Office of International Students and Scholars (OISS) will contact you with instructions for your I-20. Attendance at mandatory International Student Orientation is required before the semester starts.
Paying your enrollment deposit
Only some programs require a deposit — check the "Application Requirements and Deadlines" section on your program's page to confirm. If yours does:
- Log into WEBCAT, go to Billing > Make a Deposit, select your admitted term, and click Pay Deposit. Amount is $200 or $500 depending on program.
- Paying the deposit is how you accept your offer. Your student record is usually ready 1–2 business days after payment (once registration opens for your term).
- Admitted after the deposit deadline? No deposit needed — just email grad.school@unh.edu with your decision.
- Deposits are non-refundable.
- Readmits, change-of-degree, and Accelerated Master's applicants don't pay a deposit.

Deferring your admission
You can request to defer your admission for up to one year (one request only, and not guaranteed). Email grad.school@unh.edu with your name, program, the term you'd like to defer to, and your UNH ID. If you've already paid a deposit, it carries over to the deferred term once your department approves the request.
Declining your offer or withdrawing your application
Email grad.school@unh.edu with your name, UNH ID, program, and term, and let them know you're declining. If you don't respond or pay a required deposit by the deadline in your admit letter, your application is automatically inactivated.
Accelerated Master's admits (current UNH students)
You won't respond to your offer online — an admissions counselor will reach out directly with your next steps.
Graduate assistants
If you've been offered an assistantship, you're required to attend Graduate Assistant Orientation and any related trainings before your employment starts. You'll also need to maintain a work-eligible visa status if you're an international student (see below).
International students
- Visa & I-20: OISS will reach out after you accept your offer with instructions for your immigration paperwork.
- Orientation: Mandatory International Student Orientation is held before each semester — details come from OISS.
- English proficiency: If you haven't already submitted scores, official results must come directly from the testing agency (TOEFL iBT 80, TOEFL Essentials 8.5, IELTS 6.5, PTE Academic 59, or Duolingo 120). Already have a U.S. degree, or a degree taught in English? You may qualify for a waiver — approval is up to your department.
- Official transcripts: Required once admitted. Hand-deliver in a sealed envelope, email grad.school@unh.edu, or mail to UNH Graduate School, Thompson Hall, 105 Main Street, Durham, NH 03824.
- Registration requirements: F-1 and J-1 visa holders must register full-time every semester (no summer requirement). Talk to OISS if you have questions about GRAD 800, GRAD 900, or Doctoral Research (GRAD 999) registration categories.
- Visa policy changes frequently — check the U.S. Department of State's latest guidance if you have concerns.
